Welcomes your press coverage

"Roxanne, Roxanne"

WHO: Kangol Kid of UTFO, Full Force, Won G and Mecca aka Grimo

WHAT: Recording Haitian remake of UTFO's hit song “Roxanne, Roxanne”

WHEN: Wednesday May 26, 8pm

WHERE: 127 West 25th Street, 11th Floor (btwn. 6th & 7th Ave), New York City

WHY: Inspired by the horrific earthquake that struck Haiti over 4 months ago, Hip-Hop’s first Haitian-American Rap artist, Kangol Kid of UTFO will be recording a remake of the song that launched his career 25 years ago, "Roxanne Roxanne". The Haitian remake will be in his families native language of Kreyol (which is a combination of French and African) and will be produced by the super-producing team of Full Force who also produced the original version. Filling the other two verses of the song will be West Coast Haitian-American Rapper Won G and Miami, Florida’s own Mecca aka Grimo (formerly of Wyclef’s Sak Passe Records).

During this historical recording session, Kangol’s father, who is a survivor of the earthquake, will be reunited with his son for the first time since the disaster. This will also be the first time in Kangol's 25 year career that his father has ever sat in on one of his recording sessions. Kangol's father, Andre Fequiere will be available to speak to the media about his first-hand experiences in Haiti during and after the devastating earthquake.
