Socially Conscious Rapper Delivers Another Lyrical Beating

N.Y.OIL, Hip Hop’s Commander-in-Chief, releases his new song “Nightstick” discussing recent incidences of police brutality

New York, NY -- It has been over two years since N.Y.OIL, Hip-Hop’s Commander-in-Chief, erupted on the scene with his explosive single “Y’all Should All Get Lynched.” Now N.Y.OIL returns with a fire, responding to the call of his fans to speak on recent issues of police brutality, by releasing his new song “Nightstick,” produced by Leck One, off his forthcoming Digital EP The Boarding Pass.

When asked about the candid lyrics in “Nightstick,” N.Y.OIL stated, “As the son of a retired police officer I’m always conflicted when we discuss the police. I respect the badge, I respect the job and the need for it, but I also respect human life and the need to protect that life. The police are no more above scrutiny and justice than the most common of common citizens and as long as I have the ability and the platform to address these issues then I will do exactly that. Justice for Oscar Grant, Annette Garcia, Sean Bell and all others slain or abused unjustly by the police!”

N.Y.OIL debuted “Nightstick” to rave reviews in a powerful performance last week at World Music Wednesday at Sputnik in Brooklyn. During the show, N.Y.OIL announced that his company PEMG would now be representing fellow Staten Island, NY emcees Remedy and King Just aka KJ.

“To say NY Oil was intense on the mic is a dramatic understatement. His songs were heavy in content, politically driven and aggressively demanding of social justice. In between songs, NY Oil spoke to the crowd with passion, telling us to wake up and take charge of our lives. Watching his set was almost like attending a revolutionary seminar, but he also promoted a strong sense of unity. He made everyone in the venue, myself included, feel like we were a part of something special, namely the hip hop culture.”

Over the weekend N.Y.OIL performed “Nightstick” in front of an audience of 1000 people at a Hip-Hop Detoxx event in Chicago for Saviours' Day, the annual commemoration of the Birth of Master Fard Muhammad, the Founder of the Nation of Islam. Other notable artists on the lineup included Wise Intelligent, JT the Bigga Figga, Sir Jinx, West Coast Kam, No I.D. and Brother J of X-Clan, all of whom (including N.Y.OIL), spoke on a Saviours’ Day Conference panel earlier in the day about Islam’s Influence in Hip-Hop.

N.Y.OIL’s Digital EP The Boarding Pass featuring “Nightstick” will be available through Petroleum Empire Music Group (PEMG) on March 24th. The Boarding Pass EP is the prelude to N.Y.OIL’s second and final CD on Babygrande Records, Black Star Line Cruise, available later this year.
